St Luke's Outreach Team

For more than 4 months the community of Martissant, like many areas in Haiti, including Cité Soleil, La Saline, Bel Air,  Crois des Bouquets, has experienced a war of several rival armed gangs. These turf wars have caused the local residents to leave and take refuge at the Carrefour sports center.

There is no formal state assistance has been offered to them. They live in a precarious situation where safety, sanitation and hygiene are non-existent.  Living among the refugees at the sports center are pregnant women and women with babies and small children. The situation is inhumane. Cases of violence and rape have already been recorded.

St Luke's Outreach Team  has set up a program for more than 60 families (specifically the most vulnerable pregnant women and those with children) at the sports center.

The program consists of giving financial  assistance  to each family to help them move out of the sports center and into their own home.

With your continuing support we will continue to reach more people.http://www.stlukehaiti.org/donate
