Supporting our students!

Dear friends

We thank you for your January support for refugees!

Thanks to you we were able to send food for hundreds more refugee families in Tabarre, Catalpa and Delmas 4.

We will keep helping our neighbors in distress!

You don't see me in the top left picture above, because I took it!

Myself, Miguel and Edson trying to encourage Miguelson to keep studying hard even though things are difficult.

You may think from news about Haiti that it is nearly impossible to achieve anything here. But what would be really tragic would be for children and youth to believe life is a dead end.

Things are extremely difficult, YES.

But not impossible.

Miguel and his family are refugees TWICE, and even the St Luke School where Miguelson was studying is itself a REFUGEE SCHOOL, since we had to move to a temporary location because of bandit rule.

Edson, seated at the right, has had braved tumultuous and dangerous streets to get to classes that are often cancelled. He is like many other students. This is the reality.

He was once even thrown into a canal with a gun put to his head and robbed. He knows what terror is, as do both Miguel and Miguelson,

But he is explaining to Miguelson how he persisted and recently graduated from St Luke high school and professional school at 26 years old. It took longer because of the terrible conditions in Haiti since 2018.

But HE DID IT!

Miguelson listen to your dad! Listen to Edson! Listen to "mon pere" and DON'T GIVE UP!

As we focus this month on our education, we ask you too, please don't give up on our students, on any student in Haiti.

Children and young adults are taking even the slimmest chance they have, for as long as it takes, to finish school!

The St Luke school system benefits 11,500 students, 900 employees and indirectly helps 400 street vendors and 150 moto (taxi) drivers.

We have a 75% pass rate, even with Haiti as difficult as it is.

Education in times of great national trial is a worthy use for your one time or monthly support, of whatever size.

Did you know that we are able to accept donations of Qualified Charitable Distributions and Required Minimum Distributions from various IRAs? Robin would be happy to talk with you about how

Thank you for reading this appeal and considering to help. For this month, we have a MATCHING donor of of $10,000! Every dollar counts!
