“Casual Day” at Northwest Catholic High School, West Hartford CT.  Proceeds from the event were donated to The St. Luke Foundation for Haiti.

On February 23, 2016, Terri Frechette-Brainerd, Fr. Rick’s sister, accepted the donation. Both she and Fr. Rick graduated from Northwest Catholic in the very early 1970s.

Pat Walsh, Director of Advancement at Northwest Catholic High School helped coordinate the event, which was driven by the members of the current Junior class.

The monthly casual day for charity is a new NWC innovation. It provides a lesson in giving back and includes the entire student body.  Students and faculty donated $2 to dress casually on January 29, 2016, with all the donations going directly to the foundation.

The foreign language Honor Society was responsible for learning about the St. Luke Foundation and Fr. Rick, and they did a great job communicating the need in Haiti to the rest of the student body.

The Junior Class officers were responsible for the monthly program – they select the charities for the year, count the money, and present the checks, This particular casual day generated the largest donation to a charity since the program was instituted – $1,320.86
